SIPA Collaborations (Nov – Dec 2025)

Collaboration with Michael Maurissens

In November, SIPA collaborated with Michael Maurissens, a Belgian filmmaker, choreographer, and visual artist based in Germany, to document the playing of the Sagar Veena as part of his documentary, titled, Choreographies of Craft. The project aims to challenge the binary between “art” and “craft” by approaching artisanal practices as dynamic movement languages that speak across generations, geographies, and materialities.

Collaboration with Lahore Museum

On October 18, 2025, the Sanjan Nagar Institute of Philosophy and Arts (SIPA) collaborated with the Lahore Museum for a special event dedicated to exploring SIPA’s vision, history, and journey. The event highlighted the Institute’s interdisciplinary work at the intersection of philosophy, music, and the arts, and its ongoing mission to advance original thought and innovation in these fields, followed by a short recital on the Sagar Veena, performed by Noor Zehra Kazim.

Through this collaboration, visitors experienced an engaging exploration of SIPA’s evolution — from its founding ideas and pioneering research to its unique contributions such as the invention of the Sagar Veena. The event served as both a reflection on the Institute’s intellectual legacy and an invitation to engage with its continuing pursuit of creativity and inquiry.

Our Vision

In the words of Raza Kazim:

“The objective of the Institute is to discover and establish through knowledge, reason and verification, a framework of theory and practice in an effort to contribute towards a new and superior civilization emerging in our time. The Institute symbolizes my answer to the age-old question of human misery and happiness: taking the next step in human evolution through mental intelligence.”

Consistent with its conceived vision, SIPA has functioned as a dynamic social laboratory, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and innovation.
